This past November made 5 years since I said “ciao” to the Creamy Crack. I have really enjoyed this journey, meeting all of you and experimenting. While I continue to ride the last of the “2014 Favorites” wave, today I’m sharing my Favorite 2014 Hairstyles.
Straight Hair – Beautiful Textures Texture Manageability System| Last February I had my hair professionally straightened for the first time in years. This style was and still is at the very top of my list of 2014 Favorite Hairstyles. My hair was soft, manageable and so much fun to play with and “rediscover”. I love the versatility of the Beautiful Textures Texture Manageability System but I also love that my curls bounced back perfectly when I washed it two weeks later. Check out my First Impressions video here and my Review Video here.
Flexi Rod Sets – Design Essentials Twist & Set Setting Lotion | While my hair was still straight from the Beautiful Textures TMS I experimented with flexi rods to add some volume to my hair. I didn’t use any product so my curls fell by the end of the day. However, I loved it because I was able to stretch my hair and change my look a little.
I also used flexi rods on my natural curls to see what all of the hype was about. I used the Design Essentials Twist & Set Setting Lotion a few times last year. I love that my hair wasn’t hard or crunchy but it had tons of hold. Check out more on my flexi rod styles here.
Flat Twist Updos – Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie & NYC Curls The Curl Gel | Another one of my Favorite 2014 Hairstyles was my twisted updo. I will admit that I did them more when my hair was shorter since they take so long but it’s one of my favorites since I love protective hairstyles. Two of my must-have products for this style is a cream and a gel. The cream adds moisture and the gel provides hold. Both are essential for the longevity of my updos. I love Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie for any twist style that I do. Here’s my video using the Shea Moisture Curl Enhancing Smoothie. The NYC Curls Gel is a wonderful gel that works really well on 4cHair. I’m not big on gels because I don’t do wash and gos but I was really satisfied with the results from this gel. Check out how I used it here.
Twist Out – Dark and Lovely Au Natural moisture L.O.C. | How could I not mention my classic twist out? I have tried MANY products over the years. You all have seen most of them on Instagram and YouTube. I have quite a few favorites but most recently I used the new Dark and Lovely moisture L.O.C. line from and my results were amazing. I often mix and match my products but I love that I didn’t have to do that with this line – everything works really well together. These are the results and I’m really excited to use it again and share more with you all. This line should be hitting “ethnic hair” aisles near you soon. HA!
There are tried and true stylers I rely on to get my hair laid, honey! Below are my 2014 favorite twist out products. Click the link to see my quick video reviews.
