Last month I finally visited the e.l.f. Studio in NYC for their Foundation & Concealer class. I’ve been loving makeup this past year (see my makeup collection here) but I’m not entirely sure how to conceal. e.l.f. makes high-quality products that are perfect to experiment with because they’re so affordable. I learned some really useful information and tips during the class. Check them out below.
Always start with healthy skin. Exfoliate at least twice a week and make sure your skin is hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
Step 2: Prime.
Tip: Don’t rub in your primer. Glide/smooth it onto your face.
Tip: e.l.f. has 3 colored primers to “cancel out” or combat imperfections. Purple (and pink) is to brighten. Use it wherever you have hyper pigmentation. Yellow/gold is for radiance and to illuminate/highlight. Green is for redness.
Step 3: Apply foundation
Tip: For affordable foundation options e.l.f. has new cream and powder foundation products.
Tip: Cream foundation can be used as concealer.
Tip: Mix 2 colors if you can’t find your perfect match.
Tip: The e.l.f. Complete Vibrate Concealer Palette is FULL coverage.
Tip: The Complete Vibrate Concealer Palette can be used to contour, too.
Tool: A pointed foundation brush gives a flawless finish.
Step 4: Conceal
Tip: Conceal 360°around the eye not just under the eye.
Tool: Use the e.l.f. Radiance Enhancer to brighten under the eye and as eye shadow primer.
Step 5: Set
Tip: You can use the same powder to set your eyes and face.
Tip: Don’t apply setting powder with the puff included, use a brush. Remove the product on the setting powder puff with your brush then apply to your face for best results.
Tool: A complexion brush is best for setting because it’s open and fluffy. It’s better than the puff because the puff will make your face white – there’s too much product on it.
