As y’all know I love KBB (check out one of my other reviews here) so I don’t know why it took me so long to try this. I’ve had two samples of the KBB Butter Love in my samples box forever. I’m not sure which event I got them from BUT I finally decided to try it out. By now y’all know I can get definition with most products I use. So now when I try something new it’s really based on ingredients and how it makes my hair feel.
Product Name: Karen’s Body Beautiful Butter Love
Price: $18 6.75oz
Availability: Check here for KBB locations
Product Description: Made only from rich, thick butters and luxurious oils, Karen’s Butter Love conditions, softens and adds sheen to fragile, stressed hair. Seals moisture. Works best for thick kinks or curls, relaxed, color treated or dry hair.
Ingredients: Shea Butter, Cocoa Butter, Mango Butter, Jojoba Butter, Aloe Butter, Essential and/or Fragrance Oils, Grapefruit Seed Oil & Vitamin E
Directions: A little goes a long way. Start by scooping a small amount of product to melt in your hands. Works best on dry to slightly damp hair, since wet hair sometimes doesn’t absorb rich butters readily.
Scent: I have lavender vanilla which I loved. But, it also comes in these scents: creamy coco mango, unscented, Egyptian musk, honey oatmeal, pomegranate guava, and vanilla latte
Consistency: Thick but smooth.
My Experience: I NEVER use a product without reading ingredients first but because I know what KBB stands for (“ingredients matter!”) this time I did since they weren’t listed on the miniature container. From the name and consistency I guessed Shea butter – which my hair loves – was in it so I tried to use it sparingly (Shea butter can be heavy). It was much lighter than raw Shea butter and I didn’t have to “melt it between my fingers”. It was really easy to remove from the jar and apply to the hair. I was even able to comb it through for even distribution. It wasn’t too sticky at all.
Pros: This product is great. It kept my hair moisturized and hydrated when I took my twists down. The second day I still had tons of definition and my hair was still soft. Today is day three and it’s still soft to the touch. I also love that KBB products are available in a variety of scents.
Final Thoughts: I will be purchasing this from Target the next time I’m there to replace my raw unrefined Shea butter.
